Flores is the capital city of Petén department at the north of Guatemala. In Pre-Columbian times, Flores was the Maya city of Tayasal.
The older inhabitants used to calle it Noh Petén, literally "City Island". It was also called Tah Itzá, or Place of the Itzá.
Nowadays the island still has its vernacular architecture.
This small island with beautiful landscapes, is waiting for your visit. On bank holidays you'll fully appreciate many local activities, dances, traditions, typical food, music.
